GoT Damage?
Damage estimates for Ghosts of Tabor
This is an upgrade of my work at the official Ghosts of Tabor Wiki Ballistics page. The data is current for 0.9.1.
Weapon names are as they are in the game. You can search, sort the table, or download the values using the table’s interactive features.
Damage Table
Columns should be self explanatory. Barrett does not have AP or TR as options. Shotgun buckshot (FMJ) and birdshot (TR) are estimates for all pellets hitting.
Ghosts of Tabor damage system started with EasyBallistics, a popular Unreal Engine plugin that is physics based. As such, it doesn’t have a set damage assigned to a weapon or bullet. These values are technically damage estimates. These values are calculated using a combination of in-game observations and mathematical modeling.
Note that upgrading to AP does not offer the same benefit across all calibers. The percentage increase in damage ranges from 2.2% to 31.5%. There are four guns where all three ammo types do the same amount of damage.
A post that includes the effects of suppressors can be found in the members section.
Damage Basics
Damage is reduced based on the body part hit.
Your character has one pool of health. Four hits to the hands is the same as one to the torso. Ballistics calculations can get very involved. The Time to Kill work on the official wiki uses binomial probability to work out how quickly a weapon can take down a target even taking into account armor. The takeaway from that work is that TTK is very short against unarmored targets. Of course missed shots do 0 damage so aim well. Happy hunting!
Back Matter
Many thanks to all those that worked on weapon damage especially those mentioned at the bottom of the ballistics page. My math model would not have been possible without them.
I have been working with Ghosts of Tabor damage values since May 2023. If you have any insight into how damage and health work, let me know on Discord!
